James Knight has been sailing from the age of 7 and in the, "Yachting Business",
since 1992.
In 1990, after graduating boat building
and yacht design school in Falmouth, England, James set off for the Caribbean on a Shuttleworth 63' catamaran that he
had been building during his college years. Upon his return to the U.K., he gained further experience servicing yachts at
the Hamble School of Yachting. Moving into the racing circuit, he was involved in several "Whitbread Around The World"
projects and also worked with Peter Blake and Robin Knox Johnson on their record breaking catamaran, "Enza New Zealand".
James worked as captain of a U.S. flagged private sailing yacht in the Caribbean for five years
until crossing paths with Dennis Lawrence from PAE. Dennis convinced James that Nordhavn was the way forward and suggested
that he could help Nordhavn in Florida with commissioning, service and warranty.
Nordhavn
Yachts steadily began arriving at the Rybovich Spencer facility in West Palm Beach where James was deemed to be Nordhavn's
"East Coat Guy!". He became known around the area as "Nordhavn James", and the docks filled with Nordhavns
rolling in with warranty work and commissionings sent from Dana Point!
In 2004,
James took the position of Commissioning Manager with Nordhavn Southeast. One year later, he decided
that he wanted to work more closely with the Nordhavn owners and so Yacht Tech reopened as "Nordhavn Central", at
Seminole Marine in Palm Beach Gardens.........
Today, almost four years later, the Nordhavns
still come. We get busier every year. We know the boats better than anybody out there and we love them!
Why take your Nordhavn to any other yard? We know how they're built, we know how they are commissioned,
we know how they work, we know what breaks and we know what to look for! We believe that we have more
experience servicing Nordhavns than anybody else out there. If you believe we're wrong then we'd like to hear from
